"Charles and Lady Marchmain in an underrated scene, both for it's acting, and the pivotol theme around which the film revolves. Clair Bloom is excellent in underacting the script. She IS Lady Marchmain, and in every word and nuance we barely realise how terribly important they are to the novel as a whole. Brideshead is all there, in her quiet words,and acting, with scarcely a raised word or an arched eyebrow".
